Cradled Hydrangea - SOLD

Cradled Hydrangea Oil on Amersand Artist's Panel, 6" x 6" SOLD at $35.00 plus $5.00 shipping. Side view below. I am working on a larger painting, so this one was quick and splashy, just as a change of pace from the more careful painting. Cradled panel again, needs no framing, sides are painted too. I am really happy with the grey of the background, it is just a lot of mixed colors.

Copying Monet - SOLD

Copying Monet Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10" SOLD at $15.00 plus $10.00 shipping. Since I've been going through my art books (see my sketch blog in the side bar, where they are on sale: Nel's Art Marks) to sell, it follows that I've been browsing them also. I came across this wonderful Monet painting in one of the books on Impressionism, and loved the colors, all blues, mauves, deep rich greens. What an eye opener to try to copy one of the masters. Looking at his brushstrokes, his colors, all the subtleties that you can see in a photo, you realize once again why Monet was a master, and you are a student. I have hardly begun to do justice to copying, a forgery career is not in store, but if you like it, a little bit for the canvas and paints is all I'm asking. (There was some glare, so I used a digital "paintbrush" to retouch the glare spots.)

Little Seascape - SOLD

Little Seascape Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 10" SOLD at $20.00 plus $10.00 shipping. A tiny little seascape. 8" x 10" is hardly enough room to move around in, but this one was done as a possible model for a larger piece, which will of course, have much more interesting detail in it. Meanwhile, this is priced according to it's simplicity.

Washday New England - SOLD

Washday New England Oil on Cradled Board, 6" x 12" SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping. This one is done by request, from an earlier piece. The neighbor in Barre always hung her wash out, and if she sees this one, or one of the earlier ones, I hope she doesn't mind my using her laundry. Do you remember the smell? Nothing like fresh air dried wash.

Dappled Garden - SOLD

Dappled Garden Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10" SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping. This one was really not about the iris, which was incidental to what I was focused on. The background was my main thought here, trying to get the dappled light "feeling" to the garden. I do like the effect. What do you think?

Louisiana Light - SOLD

Louisiana Light Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14" SOLD at $65.00 plus shipping. I wish you could see this one, it came out so well. I almost want to keep it. The colors simply work, and there's a wonderful bit of light in the sky, and the suggestion of puddles in the foreground came out well too. Great variety of greens, can you tell I'm pleased with it?

Small Plums - SOLD

Small Plums Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 8" SOLD. I tried not to handle these little plums too much, since I wanted to preserve as much of the frost or haze that you get with plums. It's my favorite part to paint. I didn't quite nail the color of the frost, but that just means I'll try again later. I hope your day is just "plum lucky." (What is it with plums in folk expressions?)
